LS: How does your work inspire positive change?
CB: Everything I do is about creating positive change. I even founded a nonprofit organization in 1992 and named it “The Foundation for Positive Change.” My work focuses the human condition (as opposed to animals or technology or such) because when we are fully functioning, so will all the other systems be for the most part. We are the stewards of this planet and, to the extent that we are healthy, the planet and all its inhabitants are healthy. I help people discover their finest self and develop it, and what I regularly find is that, as people become healthier and more balanced; as they begin to feel really good about themselves, their attention invariably shifts to helping improve conditions for others. I believe the most valuable thing any of us can do is to develop ourselves to healthy levels, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, as well as physically, because we can only give to others what we have available to give. Fully functioning people give so much. And from that space almost anything is possible.
LS: If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
CB: It would be to change people’s focus. Every ill that humanity creates, or has ever created, for self or for one another, is a result of focusing on the wrong things. There is not one manmade problem you can name that can’t be traced back to that one thing.
LS: Do you embrace change or fear it. Why?
CB: That depends on the nature of the change. I wholly embrace change that helps us progress and improve ourselves and the world we live in, but change that takes us backward or toward greater human suffering should be feared, and strongly resisted.
LS: What’s the greatest change you’ve personally experienced in your life?
CB: I spent the first 30 years of my life living the way I was told I should live. I was so conditioned to pleasing others that I had no idea who I was or what I wanted in life. I was pretty miserable. Then in my early thirties I discovered my true nature and embraced it, and my whole life changed. It’s like I have lived two completely different lives. One as a shy, insecure doormat with no future and no hope, and one as a happy, confident, fulfilled woman that steps out there boldly to show others how to avoid or escape that living death. I have gone from a life of feeling lost and miserable most of the time to one of pure delight. Where I endured life back then, I love every minute of it now. The difference is like night and day.
LS: Since we cannot change others, what is the best way to help them through challenge?
CB: Only a total fool would prefer misery over joy. And, while there are people who will argue for their limitations, at least initially, the argument is always grounded in fear. When an individual can see that and can come to believe that they can not only do better, but BE better and get really satisfying results, almost all of them are willing to try another way. In fact, I have yet to encounter anyone that didn’t choose to make a positive change once they believed it was possible.
LS: Do you have any advice on how to direct the course of change in our lives?
CB: The Law of Abundance lays the formula out precisely and perfectly, and if we follow it we must get the result we want. The law unconditionally guarantees it. So my best advice would be to fully understand the laws of energy as they apply to the human condition, (what I call the Law of Abundance) and apply them. Einstein proved that all things are energy and, as such, all things are subject to the laws of energy, including us. In humans energy is always seeking abundance, but we are not guaranteed what we will get an abundance of. That is wholly dependent on how we use the laws. If we misuse them, we get an abundance of things we don’t want. It’s what we are doing collectively right now. If we apply the laws correctly however, the result is always an abundance of the things we want. That’s what we need to learn to do in greater measure. If we do, we can very literally change the world and there is empirical evidence to prove it.
